ONCE YOU’VE HAD A TASTE OF SCANDAL . . .
As the Duke of Huntford’s sister, Lady Rose Sherbourne follows the rules of well-bred society. Always chaperoned. Never engaging in unseemly behavior. Well, except for that one summer, years ago. And yet she’s never been able to forget that handsome stable master or the stolen moments they shared. She’s always wondered what might have happened if he hadn’t disappeared without a word . . . Now she’s about to find out.
YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK
Charles Holland never expected to see Lady Rose again. And yet the years haven’t lessened his devotion-or his desire-in any way. Despite their differences in class, Charles cannot stop himself from wanting to possess her. But as they uncover one intimate secret after another about her family, they realize that, this time, their love may come at a very dear price . . .
Welcome to Night Owl Book Cafe, Anne Barton, so very excited to have you. In light of your new release One Wild Winter’s Eve Published October 27th 2015 by Forever. I want to thank you so much for answering a few questions for us readers.
Thanks so much for having me!
Tell us about One Wild Winter’s Eve twitter style, 140 words or less
Lady Rose Sherbourne has always been the quiet sister, the very voice of reason. She knows she must marry a respectable gentleman—and her first love is anything but. Charles once worked in her brother’s stables, but he has big dreams. And more than anything, he wants Rose. There are just a few things standing in their way: an angry duke, a jealous countess, and, um, prison.
What are the three things you love about Lady Rose Sherbourne ?
She’s wise and thoughtful and would sacrifice anything to help the people she loves. She’s made appearances in the first three books (and novella) in the Honeycote series, and many readers have told me she’s their favorite.
What was your favorite moment in One Wild Winter’s Eve between Lady Rose and Charles Holland?
When they’re in the loft of Charles’s cottage during a snowstorm. There’s something so magical about snow! (Ha! We’ll see if I still feel that way in January.)
Did you find any part of this book difficult to write?
Yes! Without giving too much away, some of the scenes between family members were emotional to write. After four books, these characters feel like family to me.
What inspired you to write this series and how do you feel this book especially differs from the others prior to it?
I started out wanting to write about a really strong heroine who dares to rise above her station (Anabelle from WHEN SHE WAS WICKED). And while all the Honeycote books feature strong heroines, they’re each strong in different ways. Daphne is kind and determined. Olivia is fearless and passionate. Rose is different because even though she’s the youngest, she’s like a wise old soul.
What do you love most about Historical Romance?
So many things! Historical romance is a great escape, but it’s also rooted in reality which makes it the best of both worlds. Plus, I’m a sucker for a gorgeous ball gown.
If you could live in any time period, what would it be?
I’m pretty happy in 2015!
What Regency dress would you love to get your hands on?
I don’t have a particular favorite. Probably something slimming in a spring green!
Your favorite Duke in books or movies?
Wulfric Bedwyn, Duke of Bewcastle, from Mary Balogh’s Slightly Series. He’s arrogant, cold, and unfailingly proper—which makes it so much fun to watch him fall in love.
If you are celebrating Halloween, do you have any traditions with your family?
My main tradition is raiding my daughter’s trick or treat bag for Heath bars and Baby Ruths.
Outside of writing your next book, do you have any other small project you are working on in life?
Not really a project, but I love watching period dramas like Downton Abbey, Poldark, Vikings, and Outlander.

I love that about historical reads too, that they are rooted in truth (if done right). Great interview!

Too bad the giveaway is US only, this book sounds interesting and I like the pretty blue colours on the cover. And I agree there’s something magical about snow! We don’t get snow here as often, but it’s so pretty. Especially the first snow of a year. Great Interview!

haha i am drawn to blue covers like a moth to a flame

I love it when the authors are still invested in their characters after 4 books. Like they’re basically God in the world they created, but it seems like the characters are dictating the words. More writer, less author. It’s always cool when that happens, you know the story is going to be great

Awesome interview! I haven’t read the Honeycote series, but it sounds seriously sweet and a nice historical read. Like Anne, I love ball gowns too! Well, dresses in general - be it the 1500’s colonial ware or the dazzling Egyptian clothes.
Also, I can’t help but enjoy a historical read with a difference in stations. It really shows how love can overcome boundaries! <3

Sounds like some pretty big obstacles for them! Now I’m wondering which caused them the most issues the duke, the jealous countess or prison

What a fun interview. I can’t believe I haven’t picked up this author yet. I do love this time period. So fun with the brooding lords and dukes, and the fun dresses. Historical romance is such a great escape…probably one of the best genres out there to read.
