Then
Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie’s high school at the beginning of
the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him.
She can’t stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with
him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he
wants nothing to do with her. Reaching him is even more difficult
because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of
himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and
her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his
arrival. So why can’t she get him out of her mind?
Even though Lizzie knows she should let go of her fascination with Drew, fighting fate isn’t going to be easy.
Remembrance
is a book about reincarnation and love that transcends time. Lizzie
Davenport who has been reincarnated from the Regency Era, England is
unaware until Drew Carmichael walks through the doors of her classroom.
From the moment she sets eyes on him, there is an unexplainable pull in
magnetic attraction. She cannot stop thinking about him, but Drew wants
nothing to do with her and instead finds interest in Lizzie’s best
friend Chelsea. It doesn’t help that Lizzie is stuck in a relationship
with a boyfriend who just became co-captain of the varsity soccer time
and his ego is bigger than his head. Despite all the obstacles in her
way, Lizzie has a hard time getting Drew out of her mind, finding it
impossible to fight fate.
The story was inspired by Taylor
Swift’s Love Story, and I have to stay seeing it put in a book was very
different. I have not yet read any incarnation books so this was totally
different and new to me. I liked it, I really did. I liked the idea of
the book a whole lot. What I really did not understand was some of the
character’s behaviors, and attitudes and I think that was what I
struggled through the most. I won’t go into it too deeply because I feel
like it will ruin the book. But there is a moment that Lizzie does
something, and everyone questions her decision and they keep asking her
over and over again if she was sure about it. I did not understand that.
But
that aside, Drew and Lizzie were adorable and people are right – it is
hard not to keep rooting for them. I found myself a little mad with Drew
with the way he had treated Lizzie, but when I found out the reason my
heart melted. The book was from Lizzie’s point of view and unlike Drew,
she is only just now getting flash backs from her other life, determined
to discover what fate held in store for them.
Michelle Madow did
an excellent job writing a romantic story about reincarnation, and
implementing the flash back beautifully into the book. A delightfully
sweet read, with just the right amount of drama to keep me interested
and flipping the pages.
