Summary from Goodreads
After publicly
self-destructing over a heartbreak a year ago, bestselling romance
writer Piper James is now making nice with her publisher by agreeing to
teach Hollywood’s favorite action star how to act like he’s in love.
Only playboy Mick Blackwell has no clue what love looks like. When a
seductive heat ignites between Piper and Mick, she jumps at the chance
for a bit of fun between the sheets, but with two stipulations: she’s
kept out of the public eye and things end when she returns to New York.
Only Mick keeps changing the rules on her. Tempted by America’s favorite
bad boy, Piper is wondering how far she’s willing to bend…
Please help me welcome the author Robin Covington to the blog today. I read, reviewed and absolutely loved her last book His Southern Temptations and she was kind enough to answers some questions for the blog today!

Can you
tell us a little about Playing The Part?
The harder they play . . . the harder
they fall.

How did you
come up with the inspiration to write this new book?
I troll celebrity
blogs and I love to watch awards shows – the glamour, the clothes,
the red carpet. It all so exciting. But, I was reading an article
about the downside of celebrity—the papprazzi, the way a public
image can become limiting on the celebrity, the strain on your
personal relationships, and I thought that it would be so fun to
explore all of that in a book.
And I was dying to
create hot movie star. ; )
-
Which
character did you find the easiest to write and why?
Mick. I am not the
child of Hollywood royalty or an actor but I found it super easy to
connect with the double-life he has to leave. And, I also loved that
he didn’t have a pity party over his life—he loved, embraced and
lived it like crazy.
-
How did it
feel to publish your first book?
I just celebrated
the one-year anniversary of releasing my first book, A Night of
Southern Comfort, and I still remember the exhilaration and awe at
seeing my words on m Kindle screen. Just amazing. And it never gets
old. I get an excited wobbly feeling in my stomach every time I
release a book – it is awesome!
-
What
inspired you to become an author?
I have always
written and scribbled stories down but always thought that I would do
it “someday”. You know—after the kids, after the day job. But,
right after I turned 40 I had a close friend die of breast cancer and
I realized that I might never get that someday and if I wanted it bad
enough, I had to go get it. A week later I started my first book.
-
What is the
toughest part of the writing process?
Sitting my butt in
the chair and writing. Keeping off the internet and all the other
shiny things that distract me. I don’t mind giving up TV or sleep
but it is hard to sit down and write sometimes.
-
When it
comes to writing the male characters in your book. What is your
favorite type to write? or one you find the most easiest.
I love writing men
who are self-assured but are also confident enough to allow a woman
to see the real them. I like men with a military background or ones
who are physically active – mixed martial arts, running, or BASE
Jumping. I love a man who will take chances, They are easy to write
because a character with that much personal presence just jumps out
onto the page for me.
-
How would
you describe your writing style?
Sexy and modern
with a penchant for dry, sarcastic humor. And I love using curse
words . . . ; )
-
Why did you
choose the genre you write and what do you like about it?
I actually write
both paranormal and contemporary romance but I love them both because
at their core they are character driven stories. Regardless of the
setting, it’s the emotional journey of the characters that I love
and that keeps my butt in the chair.
-
What is
your next project?
I am completing
Books 3 and 4 in my “Boys are Back In Town” series. Teague and
Beack are getting their stories and they will be out in late 2013.
Then I will be tackling a contemporary light paranormal and a book
about assassins in love.
